Compassionate Integrity Training and Service Learning

The topic of self-compassion was the focus of our meeting on August 25. Self-compassion involves showing kindness and sympathy toward oneself when one is struggling, falling short, or experiencing feelings of inadequacy. This is in contrast to ignoring one's own suffering or inflicting pain on oneself via harsh self-criticism. I have to stop being so hard on myself for the things I've done wrong. Recognize that I am not flawless and treat myself with compassion whenever I am reminded of the ways in which I fall short.

Every one of us has to become more conscious of the situations in which we get a feeling of our own value from our level of performance or excellence. Realize that in order for us to be deserving of love, we do not need to be a certain way.

During the training that we had today, we discussed being conscious of your emotions. Being able to notice the existence of emotions not just in oneself but also in others is an essential part of being emotionally aware. There is a substantial link to emotional literacy, which is defined as the talent of being able to recognize and give names to a number of distinct feelings and experiences. In its most developed form, it refers to the ability to anticipate feelings before they really take place. Various levels of emotional self-awareness and their distinctions.

On the 11th of August, we talked about ethical mindfulness. Physical, mental/emotional, relational, and particularly neurological mobility all take up a large portion of existence. Instead of needing to pay attention to each motion as it happens, our conscious and non-conscious brain continuously scans and analyzes this motion, enabling us to concentrate on other wants and desires. Making ethical decisions, in my opinion, is probably most closely related to a person's best intellectual capacities. A moral choice might be seen as an action that aims to reconcile the conflict between the greatest good and other temptations or wants.
