About
University of Incarnate Word (UIW) students, part of the Students Supporting Refugees club, assist refugee students K-6 on Fridays by collaborating with Compass Rose Dream instructors. We provide one-on-one assistance in ESL classes, organize group activities, and in-class assistance to teachers. Refugee students at Compass Rose Dream can express their culture in a safe environment through time for prayer and wearing cultural clothing without judgment. Being a refugee is a challenge because of cultural and linguistic barriers. As UIW students, we aim to assist in adjustment to the United States of America. Supporting refugees aligns with UIW's mission to serve and educate the community.
