About
CitizenScience.gov is an official government website designed to accelerate the use of crowdsourcing and citizen science across the U.S. government.
Through citizen science and crowdsourcing, the federal government and nongovernmental organizations can engage the American public in addressing societal needs and accelerating science, technology, and innovation. In citizen science, the public participates voluntarily in the scientific process, addressing real-world problems in ways that may include formulating research questions, conducting scientific experiments, collecting and analyzing data, interpreting results, making new discoveries, developing technologies and applications, and solving complex problems. In crowdsourcing, organizations submit an open call for voluntary assistance from a large group of individuals for online, distributed problem solving. Navigate to their website: | CitizenScience.gov and participate in one of the over 200 active projects. These projects vary by location so make sure you find something from your area.
The volunteer will need to create an account and show documentation via email of the project they completed, with exact dates, times, and screenshots of the work completed, and a reflection of what they have achieved. The volunteer will need to log their impacts in GivePulse with a reflection of the activities and screenshots to verify their participation.
