The Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability invites the community to participate in the annual spring service day, "Cardinals in the Community: A Global Day of Service" on Friday, April 23rd from 9 am to 1 pm at the UIW Broadway Campus STUDENT ENGAGEMENT CENTER BALLROOM. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help beautify and prolong the life of the campus' Community Gardens, address food insecurity and more. SERVICE ACTIVITIES:
GARDEN WORKDAY (we are monitoring the weather)
Location: Gorman & Bonilla Gardens
Shift Times: 1st Shift (9a-11a)-Gorman 2nd Shift (11a-1p)-Gorman

Description:
Dress appropriately for outdoor garden work (including closed toe shoes) and bring an individual water bottle. The Ettling Center will provide garden gloves for all participants; gloves will not be returned and will be given away to each participant to ensure compliance with campus COVID guidelines.
CARDINALS’ CUPBOARD FOOD PANTRY ("drive thru" drop off in front of Joeris 106 or drop off inside the Student Engagement Center Ballroom)

Description:

LEMONADE CIRCLE-RECYCLED T-SHIRT ACTIVITY

THE AMAZING RACE OF HOPE
Location: Student Engagement Center Ballroom & Virtual
Time: April 23-25
Description:
The UIW community is invited to participate in the annual Amazing Race of Hope from April 23-25 hosted by CAVALRY, a non-profit organization founded by H-E-B School of Business and Administration faculty, Dr. Tracie Edmond. The mission of CAVALRY is to “create an army of student servant-leaders collaborating with area businesses and local non-profit organizations to impact lives and positively change the world.”
This year’s race will be held virtually using a scavenger hunt app, Goose Chase, to complete challenges, mini service projects, and random acts of kindness. HOW TO PLAY
1. SIGN YOUR TEAM UP BY APRIL 23, 2021

2. DOWNLOAD THE GOOSECHASE APP
Search for “GooseChase” on the App Store or Google Play Store.
3. SEARCH FOR THE AMAZING RACE FOR HOPE GAME
Once you login to the GooseChase app, you'll need to search for the name of the game or the specific game code within the app and away you go! The game code is 8ZMJJ9. The game will go live Friday morning at 9 am and will close Sunday at 11:59 pm. Once in the game, create your team with all of your team members.
4. PLAY THE AMAZING RACE FOR HOPE GAME
The games will be a combination of fun Minute To Win It challenges, mini service projects, and random acts of kindness.
HEADWATERS CLEANUP (Please note, this activity is from 1-3 pm. We are monitoring the weather.)
Meet at the Outdoor Sports Complex by the Natatorium at 1230. We will do a quick orientation and assign groups to work areas.
Actual cleanup will be from 1 to 3 pm.
Meet back at Outdoor Sports Complex from 3 to 3:30 to thank everyone.
