The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was established within the department of Mission &amp; Ministry.&nbsp; Its primary purpose is to create, implement, and assess learning, engagement, and programmatic opportunities and initiatives for faculty, staff, and students that raise their awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.&nbsp; The Office of DEI collaborates with the University community to facilitate the learning and working environment to ensure all individuals have an equitable opportunity to succeed in the classroom, in the work environment, or in any campus activity.&nbsp; &nbsp;
The Associate Vice President for Mission and Ministry (DEI) serves the UIW community in the following ways:
<ul>
<li>Promotes institutional commitment to a climate and culture that cherishes diversity, ensures equity and intentionally fosters inclusion through interaction with individuals and agencies inside and outside the University;</li>
<li>Directs diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives by developing and managing associated resources and training for the University;</li>
<li>&nbsp;Researches, develops and implements processes to measure the effectiveness of diversity, equity, and inclusion education and training.</li>
<li>Develops, coordinates, facilitate, and evaluates training sessions focused on the University's diversity, equity and inclusion goals for the campus community.</li>
<li>Develops mentoring processes&nbsp;for faculty, staff, and students across the University to improve understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.</li>
<li>Collaborates with faculty to identify opportunities to address diversity, equity, and inclusion through the curriculum.</li>
<li>Collaborates with Campus Engagement, develop and support a training model and implementation plan for ongoing student leadership training.</li>
<li>Organizes and chairs the University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.</li>
<li>&nbsp;Conducts an annual assessment of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and compliance at the University and shares the report of this assessment broadly across the campus.</li>
