40 Days of Lent and Service

About

This Lenten Season, we center our program on our faith tradition by engaging with prayer, fasting and almsgiving, the customary practices within the Catholic Church. Each week of Lent will focus on a specific theme of social justice. You do not need to be Catholic to participate! Mondays will be days of inclusive prayer, reflecting a commitment to better understand justice through spirituality, concluding with a prayer service in the afternoon. Wednesdays you are invited to participate in a day of fasting; each week participants will be asked to fast from food or identified practices, and invited to attend an afternoon prayer service to break the fast. On Fridays we will engage in almsgiving by participating in an afternoon of service at one of our nonprofit partners, whose mission corresponds with the issue of justice highlighted that week.
