About
Thursdays, 7 to 8 pm, on zoom, Sept. 14, 21, 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, join weekly hour-long renewal sessions with the six films of "CompassionateUSA," discussion, then some time for reflection, journaling, and goal setting.
Our Mayor/the City of San Antonio was internationally recognized for our efforts to build a "City of Compassion" in the Charter for Compassion Banquet at the Parliament of World Religions, one of the most significant religous gatherings in the world. Our Mayor is the Chair of the U.S. Conference's Mayors and Business Leaders Center for Compassionate and Equitable Cities.
The recognition is about each of us in our daily lives being compassionate towards ourselves, towards others, and bringing compassion as the first principle in our vocations, institutions, and neighborhoods.
"CompassionateUSA is a learning journey designed to teach self-compassion and community well-being that honors our common humanity and affirms the beauty of our differences. We seek to help people develop foundational skill-sets, a shared vocabulary, and a common practice for all people to ultimately decrease violence and trauma and increase individual and collective healing." Read more at Compassionate USA and see the topic for each week there.
These gatherings can count towards Professional Development Hours needed by educators, Community Service Hours needed by students, and as peaceful refreshment in our busy lives. For more information, contact the facilitator Sr. Martha Ann Kirk kirk@uiwtx.edu or 210-883-5934. She is an internatioanally certified Compassionate Integrity Training Facilitator and has been called a Teacher of Peace.
