About
Girlstart After School is designed to provide girls with a fun, free STEM enrichment program that builds confidence and encourages them to pursue paths to higher education and to discover greater career opportunities. 

Opportunities
This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with 4th-5th grade girls empowering them in science, technology, engineering, and math activities. At this time, we hope to start Girlstart After School clubs in person at local elementary schools October 4th. We are constitutionally communicating with our partner campuses to determine the safest way that we can continue to inspire our participants

For Future Educators
- Hands-on work experience in an education setting
- Deliver fun, informal STEM programs with small groups of students
- Improve classroom management skills, teaching style, and gain curriculum writing experience
- Increase your confidence in delivering STEM-focused material
- On the job training in informal stem education, the Girlstart Method, gender equity in the classroom, and other issues relating to STEM and integrated STEM education
- Receive guidance, expertise, and feedback from previous classroom teachers

Requirement Details

-        Programs will be held at respective schools in Central Texas immediately after school. STEM CREW interns need to be available for 1-2 afternoons starting at 2:00pm (ish), as programs are typically 3:00-4:00pm.

-        Reliable transportation (or valid driver’s license for at least 1 year), driving to and from respective programs is required for the position

-        Desired Qualities
o   Experience working with kids preferred
o   Desire to empower and educate girls in STEM
o   Comfortable presenting to a group of girls
o   Classroom management skills helpful
o   Proficient using Google Drive apps
o   Strong time management skills
o   All majors welcome (STEM background not required)

Parking Details
When working at Girlstart’s office, we have a parking lot and nearby street parking. When leading Girlstart After School at partner elementary schools, you will be able to park in the school’s parking lot.
